Hi guys, i had the same problem , i tried many things like installing using usb, dvd, and using a mini iso image, but nothing worked , every time it got stuck at the 'detecting network hardware' but i followed the below steps and it installed fine on my laptop.
1.first boot from live disc.(dont select install option)
2.after booting, use SYSTEM> INSTALL KALI
3.follow the gui to intsall . 4.during installation, the system will prompt you to connect to internet using your wifi or ethernet connection,
provide the credentials, as this is very important for kali to connect with server and install GRUB at the end of the installation,
if not it will throw an grub error.
hope this works for you guys
many thanks..worked for me after so much troubleshooting
