The card is a TrueMobile 1150 series from Agere Systems, sold on the Dell web site. 11mbps, set up as eth1. For anyone who buys one, just ignore the fact that RedHat thinks the card is from Linksys and go on with your installation using the Gnome GUI (I'll detail the installation for anyone who's interested).
I've got a Belkin F5G6001 PCI card, which uses the ADMtek 8211 chip. I can get everything happenning but not the stats (ie iwconfig gives me all the info, but says signal=0, noise=0). Because i'm connecting to a WAN, I can't easily test it independently of trying to punch signal thru trees with homebrew antennae (tho I have a friend who might bring his laptop around later). iwconfig also reports the rather odd txpower of 47dBm (ie a bit over 60W, not 60mW) which should (if it were correct) be enough to gently simmer a glass of water in 15 minutes or so....
Also, ive not had any luck getting kismet to run with it, as I can't put the card in Monitor mode... any suggestions?
what version does iwconfig show for this driver? If your driver version shows 1.0.3, there is a 1.0.5 available on the admtek site, though I don't think monitor mode is supported in it either. Also, does /proc/net/wireless show any meaningful numbers?
