Thanks for the youtube link on disabling secure boot. If I didn't see this video, I would have done the old traditional way of going into the BIOS to make the changes.
You're welcome for both, glad the instructions helped!
It does not (or at least one that works). It's baytrail, doesn't even have a SATA controller in the system. To get SATA in ultra-cheap, you'll have to upgrade to Braswell, as Cherry Trail, like Bay Trail, has no SATA controller.
I appreciate the extra info. This netbook is indeed cheap @ around $200. I suspect it will have limitations.

I don't know. The eMMc is an embedded chip on the motherboard. And Timothy Miller said there is no SATA controller on a low cost netbook. He seems to be more familiar with this model. I think he said he has one.
@ everyone who replied to post
I believe I have all the info I need from all the knowledgeable members here who have replied.
You'll notice that there is a large gap for the WWAN card and no M.2 connection. It is possible to extend the mPCIe card and remove the WiFi card completely. Another option might be to purchase a board with an M.2 WWAN card and swap it out with an SSD. Unfortunately these are quite rare.
The eMMC is acts more like a ultra fast SD card and not as fast as a SSD drive.
As the owner of an older HP Stream 11 (Celeron N2840), I must dispute the claim of "ultra fast"
That said, I boot Ubuntu Mate 16.10 (dev) off a mini 64 GB USB flash drive I keep plugged in (and kept Windows on the eMMC). Hitting F9 to bring up the boot menu every time I want to boot Linux (which is most of the time) isn't all that annoying. If I were going to actually replace Windows, I'd go install for uefi booting, and let it go at that
