ACER Linpus linux problem?!?! HEELP!!

hello good people!

so, today I bought this laptop:
http://www.ve-mil.hr/opis.aspx?prika...&Sifra=1010330

when I started it i came to the point from which i couldnt go further, only thing writen on the screen was:
"[root@localhost /]# "

after lil' bit of researching i found out that i dont have OS Linux with graphic interface(which i was expecting because in the description is writen 'Linux'(link)), but 'linpus linux' which is something like DOS i guess, completely useless command-line system, at least for me

now, i heard that additional installation of Linux's OS is needed, and that the best option is Ubuntu...

but, as i'm complete idiot for things like that, i decided to install XP 2007 with cd i already had, but after boot and "setup is loading files" came "setup is starting windows" and then it showed error:
http://www.fotorola.com/uploads/3a8bace80c.jpg

i dont know what to do... maybe the problem is in that that OS(Linpus Linux) already exists so it doesnt allowes me to install windows... i'm aware of that that linux and windows are rivals, i guess, but help please!

p.s. it's not problem in windows cd(although it's pirat version), because brother managed to install windows with it on his computer

It isn't that Linux is preventing you from installing anything. Chances are, Windows XP, as it exists on the install CD, doesn't support your hardware.

I'm not exactly sure how to approach this, as I haven't really bothered with Windows in many years. You might want to try to ask this in a Windows forum, they should be able to help you.

Probably not, I'm guessing a big problem may be that XP didn't come with SATA drivers on the install disc, so it can't see your hard drive.

Take it back to where you bought it. Linpus should have booted up to a desktop environment. You could have tried entering "startx" at the # prompt.

There is a good chance Xp does not recognize the file system and will not give you the chance to delete/make/format a partition. Is your laptop setup to boot from cd drive first?

You could also run into trouble with your sata hard drive if it is a version of xp with no service packs. The sata drivers would have to be loaded via floppy drive.

Did Acer give you a restore cd? If so, you could reinstall Linpus.

Your easiest solution may be to download another distro and try it.

Trying to install xp from usb flash would not help.

I think that is only the Linpus that runs on the Asus Aspire One netbook.

There is another version floating around, basically, it is put there because there is some agreement that they can't sell a computer without an OS, same reason some install FreeDOS.
