What would be the most up-to-date kernel version I could compile for CentOS 5.3? I've tried the latest stable (2.6.32.8) from kernel.org but it failed to compile. I'm currently running 2.6.18.
If the kernel failed to compile there was likely some missing dependency or program required for its compilation. What was the error you got when attempting to compile the kernel?
Distribution: PCLinuxOS2023 Fedora38 + 50+ other Linux OS, for test only.

Rep:
An updated version of 2.6.18 → 2.6.18-186.el5 with lots of
goodies from the later kernel versions is soon to come.
If something useful in 2.6.32, it may be included.
