RTP - G711 -Audio API

Hi All,

I have a situation where there is audio data coming over RTP-G711. I have two important functions to be performed

1) Strip the RTP and extract the payload.
2) Decode the audio and play the audio.

Also the vice versa also needs to be performed ie convert the raw data to G711 and wrap it as RTP and send it over Ethernet.

I am looking for APIs or modules that kernal provides to perform the two functions. Does linux provide them ?

Regards,
Thimmaiah K G

This is higher level stuffs, this won't be done in the kernel.
You can try to check ffmpeg sourcecode.

Hi,

But isnt it possible to develop a driver module or a driver module available which can expose the dev file for me to directly use. The concern here is time

Hi,

A driver module is usually written to control some hardware, which device do you want to write a driver for ?
I suppose a kernel module could possibly be written to achieve what you want, but it seems awkward to me. Especially since open source solutions already exist for what you are trying to do (e.g. ffmpeg).
