Talking PUPPYLINUX. Kernel panic. not syncing VFS Problem


My pals laptop with windows 7 Stop booting so I put the lastest version of puppy linux , lucid puppy, and during boot this is what I got

Kernel panic - not syncing : VFS : unable to mount root gs on unknown-block(0,12)

I have no idea what this mean i appreciate all help.

I will find out the brand when he wakes up he said it was from 2005
