Problem with hardware opengl performance after updated/graded kernel.

After updating my kernel to 2.6.16.16ck3, I get a problem with hardware rendered opengl... here is the output of the following, which is abnormal:

when I type cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status, I get the following:

george@georgescomp1:~$ cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Disabled

AGP initialization failed, please check the ouput
of the 'dmesg' command and/or your system log file
for additional information on this problem.
george@georgescomp1:~$

Thought, I'm still able to run opengl games, but maybe it under software?

--EDIT/UPDATE--

When I run dmesg I get the following when it comes to initializing nvidia...

...
[4294924.306000] nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
[4294924.323000] ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:00.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 21

[4294988.253000] NVRM: not using NVAGP, an AGPGART backend is loaded!
george@georgescomp1:~$

I recall the nVidia linux documentation saying that it automaticly sees if AGPGART is installed and uses that, and if not goes to NvAGP. Or it could be the other way around, I'll have to look after I finish my meal. I have not touched the grpahics device section while configuring the kernel, just did a couple minor touches. (having to do with ommiting pcmcia support, I have a Desktop PC no need unless I get a card that supports pcmcias, and a couple other things. What could be the problem? Must I have did something that I shouldn't have done while configuring my kernel? (I'm positive I did) An example of a performance problem would be in americas army... before updating my kernel, in Urban Assault, if viewing across from one side of the map in a tall building to the very opposite side, I get 10 fps, but as soon as I get inside a building I get upwards of 80, until a person moves onto the screen.

you need to reinstall the nVidia drivers for the new kernel (or old kernel if you did a make modules_install )

oh, and also make sure you enabled the agpgart for your AGP chipset family in the kernel setup

I was told to turn it off in the cedega general forums at transgaming.org. If it fails it shouldn't be difficult to revert it back to using agpgart.ko. Thank you for the help though.
