gdbstart for kgdb 2.2

KGDB patch used to ship with a utility called gdbstart which could be invoked at run time on the target machine to start kernel debugging. However starting KGDB 2.2, this utility is no longer present in the patch and the only way to start interacting with gdb on the remote machine is at boot time. Any idea why it was removed and if there is an equivalent of gdbstart available. I could not find any information relating to gdbstart for KGDB 2.2+ on KGDB website.

Regards
Nitin
