Question Eth0 - NIC Tweaking

Does anyone here know how I go about changing the factory default MTU (1500)??

I am currently running RHAS 2.4.9-e.3smp on Dell PowerEdge 6600.

Thank you in advance.

The 'ip' command can change an interface mtu, e.g. set mtu on eth0 to 576

Code:
ip link set eth0 mtu 576

Question

Matt - Thanks for your response. Shouldn't I increase the MTU from 1500 to double the value?
" ip link set eth0 mtu 576 "

Thanks,

The value of 576 was just an example, the value actually used would depend on the type of interface and its intended use.
