bootsplash instalation on linux 2.6.15

I am trying to build my own linux distro. After getting X to work I wanted to install bootsplash.

I recompiled the kernel with the bootsplash patch and with support for framebuffer, fb console and initrd.

I installed a downloaded theme in /etc/bootsplash/themes and created a new initrd image with

Code:
splash -s -f /etc/bootsplash/themes/SuSE-7.2/config/bootsplash-800x600.cfg >> /boot/initrd.splash
Next I added the initrd image to the grub config file and rebooted. The problem is that VESA Fb starts ok, but there's no bootsplash. The system just starts normally.

When I start bootsplash with
Code:
splash -s /etc/bootsplash/themes/SuSE-7.2/config/bootsplash-800x600.cfg
everything works ok.

Please help I've tryed all I could think of
