Can there be a possibility that there are some hidden files in the USB that are occupying the space? I did the ls -la command to see for any files for .trash but I couldnt see any such file:

[root@ash f1213b40-31f0-4f6f-b4bb-1b96b724b5cd]# ls -la
total 1
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 1024 Jul 14 11:11 .
drwxr-x---+ 3 root root 60 Jul 16 09:31 ..

Oh god, my usb is not getting mounted now

mount: /mnt/usb is not a block device
[root@ash aisha]# mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
