USB Kbd and Mouse KVM?

Ok here is my problem. I have a Logitech USB Wireless Keyboard and Mouse combo that I am currently using on my Linux box and Mac OSX cube.

When I use it on the Mac I am plugged into a Hawking KVM switch, when I use it on the Slackware linux box I'm plugged directly into the box via USB, and all works properly.

I cannot get it to work on the linux box when it is plugged into the KVM switch. It recognizes the devices correctly when I'm booting up.

Input0: <Vendor name Keyboard> USB1:2.0
Input1: <Vendor name Mouse> USB1:2.1

(This is as close as I can come without going home and booting it up and writing down the messages.)

How do I take the information from my bootup screen or dmesg output and make it so that my linux box will use Input0 and Input1 as my Keyboard and mouse?

Thanks for any help,
Rkane

Well I have been looking for an answer for 3 days now. I think I might have finally found it. Of course just after I post up the question.

Here is a website that I am going to try and follow this weekend to get it working.

http://tldp.org/HOWTO/XFree-Local-mu...nput_devs.html

Hopefully this will work. I will have a report up by next week as to how it went.

Ok, well that didn't help a whole lot. I have a better understanding of USB now.
By doing stuff that it suggests on that webpage I can get it to type a few keys but then it just starts repeating the last key over and over and over.

Like this ;lkjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

so then I have to hit Alt-Ctrl-Del over and over and over until it finally accepts it and reboots.

Please someone help me.

ok now I have a really wierd issue.
The other day I booted up my computer and started up X from my PS/2 keyboard. once X was running my usb Keyboard and Mouse started working, and then when I switched the KVM away and back they stopped working again.

Sadly I have not been able to get this to work more than once. I do not know what I did to keep it from working now.

Still searching for answers. Please someone help.

Well I gave up and converted back to Windows 2k. In doing this I found a BIOS setting that enabled USB Keyboard BIOS recognition. Ack! That might have helped with my problem. Oh well I will go back to Slack later. If I buy any new games I will be buying the linux versions as they are always faster, that is as long as ATI or someone gets some good driver support for my RADEON.

Laters, all. I will still come here as I have 2 linux servers at work.
But I am sad to say Windows2k Serves me best at home.
