USB External Hard Disk problem with large files

Hi all,

We have been experimenting with a USB portable hard drive. The brand of the device is Targa, and it's a 30Gb HD, connecting to two USB ports (one of which is just to provide the required current to drive the disk).

The OS we're using is Fedora 1.

Upon plugging in the drive, it is auto detected, and mounted -- no problems there.

Copying/moving files to/from the drive is no problem either ...UNLESS the files are greater than about 50Mb. Then the whole system hangs, after a short period of instability.

It seems to be a USB timeout problem...(?)

Can anyone help please?

Nick
