I always set up my computers to dual boot Linux and Windows. Linux is far more secure for general computing; I have several games that only run on Windows.

Two of my more recent motherboards have headers for Trusted Platform Modules (TPMs). The older one has a 1.02 header, the more recent has a 2.0 header. Both of these computers have Devuan (Debian less systemd) and Windows 10 installed.

The TPM idea appeals to me, but when I read "...malicious software is unable to tamper with the security functions of the TPM," I remind myself that Windows all too frequently treats Linux as malicious software. I want to make sure that the TPMs would serve both operating systems, particularly Linux, since that's where I keep what little important data I keep on my computers.

So, is there any reason a TPM would not serve two operating systems? Is it safe to install them after the operating systems are installed, or must they be present when the O/S is loaded? (Yes, I know I've got a lot more reading to do....)
