Unhappy suse 9.3 unwanted kernel reload

Hi all,
I have a suse 9.3-windows 2k system and I'm exploring the features of Linux. Surprisingly, as I've installed new software in the Suse DVD, the YAST 2 manager installed the Linux kernel. After reboot LILO warns me Linux is no longer avalaible:
"..Suse 9.3Ebda too high" or something like it.
The Suse manual provides some rocovery actions as partition recovery, software packages, bootloader. In my case none of these recovery actions work. The enigmatic message remains.
Mainly I need a basic suggestions about save & recovery system configuration.
Please help a poor ex full Windows user.
