Strange behaviour 2Gb SD then 16Gb micro SD in usb All in 1 micro card reader
Ubuntu 14.04 with standalone USB connected All in 1 micro card reader.
I can't get this to work consistently appears like there is a physical connection fault but by substituting leads and wiggling cards I think I have eliminated this possibility.
Sometimes I can access a 16Gb mic0 SD card but only after first putting in and then removing a 2Gb SD card.
I've tried putting the 16Gb micro SD card slot and I've tried putting it into a SD/micro SD adaptor.
Sometimes (rarely) I can see (and work with) the cards other times not.... I've tried rebooting and booting with and without card present.
I have not installed a driver as I don't know the precise identity of the All in 1 micro card reader.
(It looks identical to the esecure All in 1 micro card reader being sold everywhere)
lsusb and lsblk have both been tried but its never been seen.
Drivers are not needed for card readers in linux.
At least for the few I keep of different brand and makes.
I know the 4 buck chinese ones on ebay for a tower that work off the internal front usb pins on the motherboard are flaky
as all get out. One I bought the usb port worked fine.
The SD slots were no bueno pr nada. Good for nothing.
So If the micro card works ok in a phone, tablet, or mp3player.
I'd blame the adapter myself. Wiggling don't mean nothing. It does not hurt to try it. Sometimes contacts corrode. But.
At least in my expereince. Most are go or no go.
Check the gold pins on micro sd card also. Look for the peel back or missing gold contsct surface on mating surfaces.
I've seen that as a culprit for these kinds of threads also.
