Sound Problem??

Just updated Slack and my sound does not work anymore.
When I go into configure sound system no matter what I choose I get errors.
When I choose alsa i get:

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

Just ran alsaconf and alsa did not find my sound card. I had sound before the slack update.

When I go into control center I dont have a sound card anymore and I remember there being one.
how do get it back? I am working on it so hopefully I can figure it out soon.

Thanks

What did you exactly update in Slack, kernel, the distro itself, etc? What kind of sound card are we dealing with? You should know to provide better and more details or were going to be of no help to you.

I updated everything to current slack version via swaret.
I dont think kernel update was involved cuz all I saw while it was downloading and updating were programs.

Uh.. type of soundcard? I dont remember exactly but it was working before today. It must be a soundblaster cuz thats the only type I remember buying, I think it was the Soundblaster AWE.
