Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question sles-9 sdd drivers for san attached 2145 SVC

I got the docs, the drivers, installed the RPM, set up the startup scripts in rc.d, added the script with insserv and sddsrv is running after a reboot. The logs in /var/log show that things are happening as designed (as far as I can tell). But after a reboot datapath query adapter and device return no devices at all and the filesystem is not mounted. I can then run the commands to cfgvpath and mount the filesystem by hand, but after a reboot the devices are gone again.

What I am doing wrong here? TIA
