Slackware 2.6.7 no CD-ROM?

I ran Slackware 10.0 for a few months, then decided there was too much .conf editing so I switched over to Fedora Core 2. After a day and a half, I went right back to Slackware lol. My current setup is:

Intel P4 2.4GHz
512MB DDR RAM
Adaptec 2160 SCSI
Compaq 36.4GB 15000RPM SCSI HD
Seagate 36.4GB 10000RPM SCSI HD
Western Digital 80GB IDE HD
PLEXTOR PLEXWRITER 12/4/32 SCSI CD-REWRITABLE
Sony DVD-ROM drive

In Fedora Core 2, both of my DVD/CD drives were "set up." In Slackware, both times, I never bothered to set up my PLEXTOR SCSI CD-RW (never needed to burn any CDs...yet). After installing Slackware 10.0 for the second time, as before, my Sony DVD-ROM drive was detected and found in the fstab. Five minutes ago, I upgraded to the 2.6.7 kernel and for the first time, I saw something like this on the first reboot:
FOUND PLEXTOR SCSI CD-RW or something like that.
I said to myself: cool; it actually did it for me this time. Problem was, now I couldn't mount my Sony DVD-ROM drive. I looked in the fstab and everything was like it was before. After doing a little searching, i found out that now my PLEXTOR drive works (mounted, detected, found in fstab), but not my Sony DVD-ROM drive (not mounted, not found in fstab). So my questions is: how do I get both drives working?
