I've installed in my box Mandrake Linux 8.1. Everything inside it works fine (until now, at least) except my three CD reader and writers connected through an Adaptec 1510 SCSI.
I can see the adapter in my hardware setup, but no cdroms at all (of course this means that I can't burn any cd).
Can somebody help me? How do I make Linux see my scsi devices?
Are you doing "pnpdump" as root?
The cd writing How-To has the info on setting up a drive and you'll need the correct modules loaded as well, do "lsmod" (as root) and look for scsi modules in the list.
With 'lsmod' I can find a scsi_mod that says to be used 3 (??) then an AUTOCLEAN and other three modules between brackets [sd_mod sr_mod sg].
Can you give a little bit more of a hint? I tried to check the How to too, but doesn't seem to me explains the installation of the devices... (if u can pinpoint where, I'll be really grateful).
I also tried the command cdrecord -scanbus which gives me back an 'No such a file or directory. Cannot open SCSI driver. For possible targets try cdrecord -scanbus make sure you are root' (of course I gave this command from root).
I found in Mandrake a shell that allows me to set up my ISA pnp devices and I can actually see my board, with its correct name and everything else, but when I go to accept the settings (just the selection of the IRQ) it tells me that there is a failure. Now the board is ok (it works in Windows). Is there any way to test it or to auto set it?
