Scanner conflict with Webcam

I've been using my AAO netbook recently and connected my Brother AIO printer, which has a scanner also. I'm having an issue, Mandriva 2010.2 see it as a webcam when using xsane. I do not see any options to choose which device to use while running xsane and Gimp. If I start Cheese, it does work with the cam though. When I used the printer on a different computer without a webcam, the scanner worked, it was runninig Mdv also.

Any ideas suggestions on solving this issue?

Thnx.

Have you tried pointing to the device manually?

Not sure how to point it directly to the scanner. What am I looking for to point it?

Doing an lsusb, this is what I see for the cam and scanner, if it's any help:

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0c45:62c0 Microdia Sonix USB 2.0 Camera
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 04f9:016d Brother Industries, Ltd MFC-5440CN

First time I've run across this issue.

Thnx.

Maybe, this is a pointer:
I have two scanners - both connected over the network, so no trivial configuration. When only one scanner is configured, I can select it from within gimp via
File menu -> Acquire -> XSane
When both scanners are configured, I get:
File menu -> Acquire -> XSane -> Device dialog ...

gimp relies on xsane, and xsane relies on sane. Possibly - or likely - sane uses the first scanner it finds, unless you do manually configure both scanners to be valid.

What does
scanimage -L
say?

$ scanimage -L
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname USB 2.0 Camera virtual device

When I open Gimp and load a graphic file, for the life of me I don't see Acquire from the File menu area.

Thnx.
