Save the sound configuration

I'm just about to install Mandrake 8.2 (currently I've got 8.0) and I wondered which files I need to keep to save my curent sound configuration, as it took me a while to get all the settings right for my sound card to work.

you could just back up your entire /etc. there's probably more than just sound that you need to save.

I don't particularly fancy keeping the rest of my configuration (some bad mistakes). Which files exactly do I want to keep?
