sata controller cards

i am thinking about getting a SATA PCI controller card since my onboard SATA controller is not supported in kernel 2.6.4. Could anyone tell me what card would work with Suse pro 9.1? I was looking at some promise cards, i've heard some good things from them, but their website says the cards only support Suse 7.3 and 8.0. anyone have some advice? thanks in advance

would the promise SATA150 TX2plus or FastTrak S150 TX2plus card work with suse pro 9.1?

I don't use suse but if you are using kernel 2.2.x or 2.4.x, then yes.

However, you have to compile the source code from promise for Fasttrak S150 TX2plus driver. Also, if you plan on using it for your / partiton then your going to have to use initrd with the driver module you made. I did it with slack using kernel 2.4.28 and it works fine.
