"Reboot and Select proper boot device" error

Hi,

I've got a problem with my hard disk. It's quite a new Seagate. I was working fine for a few months. A few weeks ago I changed some internal parts of the computer. It was still working ok. Over the last 2-3 weeks it happened 2-3 times that I couldn't boot the computer. I got the error:

Quote:
Reboot and select proper boot device
or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key
however, what I did was I rebooted the box and everything was alright. I didn't worry about it. well, up till today... I can't boot it at all, I keep rebooting the computer, it always gets the same error. The Hard disk is not detected in BIOS.

Is there any way I can fix it, any tool from a live distro?
btw, I checked the cables - they are firmly connected

thanks

Check your BIOS, and if it's set on auto, try setting the harddisk manual. I don't think this is an error with linux.
