Does anyone know the status of 9800pro support under Linux? The ATI website has a driver for the 9700pro, but doesn't list a driver for the 9800pro. Is it possible to use the same driver for the 9800pro? Or is there another driver that can be used?
I am getting errors with agpgart using that driver, let me know if you get the same thing. So far it will do that with the 9700 only, that I know and maybe newer cards???

You're mistaken about the 9700 makai, lots of people got their 9700 working with drivers starting with the official 2.5.1 [...which was XFree-4.1, -4.2 only] up to the newest devel drivers from the german site, which support 4.3.
Something occured to me, I haven't followed chipsets that close but does your board support agp 3.0 [...8x]?
Seems the problem is the agpgart module from kernel-2.4.x with agp 3.0 compliant boards/chipset.
If it's the case, someone wrote a patch for that, you can find it here, he says it works with kernel-2.4.20.
Hey, thanks for the help. The driver UnTamed posted above works fine for me. I'm using a Radeon 9800pro on an Abit BH7 motherboard. The driver compiled and worked with no trouble, and I have a slightly customized RedHat 9 kernel. Sorry I didn't post this a couple days ago, but I wanted to get my code base going and make sure that all the cool stuff (such as ARB_fragment_program) was working under this driver.
Is this driver just a modified version of the official ATI driver? It sure looks like it.
ATI still hasn't written back to me and said when they would officially update their linux driver to support the 9800pro...
I did try the patch but it didn't work for me, I am still getting the same problem. Maybe their is something else going on? Or I just didn't apply the patch correctly, I am using 4.3.0 of XFree86...
