Problem with DVB-T passthrough audio

This is kind of strange problem. I started trying Ubuntu on my media-PC - formerly, I have been using Gentoo.

Now everything is ok from alsa point of view I think - xine for example seems to play
passhtrough correctly when playing a DVD - however, I am not getting this when using
DVB-T and I had it going when using Gentoo.

So I am wondering:
a) I formerly used custom kernel and v4l-dvb drivers from linux-tv - I know have the stuff from
kernel 2.6.17 since my card is now supported by kernel as is - could there be a difference?

b) Missing a module or something?

I think it can't be in audio setting since dvd's run ok so there seems to be something else.

iam experiencing a one way audio problem from a PABX set across my WAN net work
