Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

PATA RAID Controller

Does anyone know of a good parallel ATA RAID controller that _isn't_ PCI-64? I looked at the 3ware Escalade 7506 and the 4-port model would be perfect. The thing is, I don't have any PCI-64 slots in the machine the controller is going in.

Does anyone know of a 4-6 port PATA RAID controller that isn't PCI-64?

Thanks,

Adam

IIRC, and according to a quick once-over of the docs ( http://www.3ware.com/support/UserDocs/7000IG_042903.pdf page 10) you can run up to the 8 port PATA Escalade on a 32bit PCI slot. It is a 64-bit card, but fits in a 32-bit slot (with a lot of overhang - a 64 bit PCI is pretty much 2 32bit PCIs next to one another).

I know I've run a 64 bit RAID card in a 32 bit slot... Don't remember if it was the 3ware or Promise (Promise is crap, btw), but it did work & worked just dandy.

Another question is how much sense it makes in a 32 bit slot, due to bandwidth limitation.

I picked up an LSI card on eBay.

Cheers.
