I have Ubuntu 22.04 running on Razer Blade 18 2023 and everything seems to work fine except for audio.
My kernel:
Code:
Linux <redacted> 5.19.0-32-generic #33~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon Jan 30 17:03:34 UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
A couple observations:
- sof-hda-dsp Speaker + Headphones is recognized by pavucontrol
- Speaker does not work
- Headphone port works and the L/R channels are correct
- Both onboard and headphone mic works
I am quite new to audio debugging, what are some good ways to dig into this issue? What logs should I grab and what should I be looking for?
Your problem is that HDMI is assigned to card 0 and HDA to card 1.
This can be toggled but it's a little bit difficult.
It seems to be more easy to try pavucontrol:
Open pavucontrol, go to "Configuration" and set HDMI Audio to "off" and HD Audio Controller to "Analog Stereo Output" (for speakers/headphones only) or "Analog Stereo Duplex" (for speakers/headphones & microphone). Then go to "Output Devices" and set for HD Audio Controller Line Out a value of 100% (0 dB) or a shade less.

In the configuration tab, I see:
- HDA Nvidia
- Profile:
- *HDMI* output (unplugged)(unavailable)
- Off <<< currently selected
- sof-hda-dsp
- Profile:
- Play Hifi quality Music <<< currently selected
- Off
I then went back to output devices and see the following:
- sof-hda-dsp HDMI / Displayport 3 Output
Now you see why it took me a couple of days to figure out this chromebook.
