Linux AHCI Enabling - Kernel unable to mount file system.

Hi,

I am having machine with Linux 2.6.25.14 distribution.

When I changed the LEGACY MODE --> RAID/AHCI mode from BIOS then I am not able to boot the kernel.

It's unable to mount the filesystem.

I was wondering if

the AHCI modules are not being loaded ?

or

I need to pass any boot time parameter ?

or

I need to modify modprob.conf file and initrd file and recompile the kernel?

Even I can't see any AHCI module traces in the DMESG (kernel message buffer in legacy mode)

Please suggest how to boot the machine with AHCI enabling.

Appreciate the suggestions.

Thanks.
