Ok from reading the above instructions I have fixed my linksys wireless printserver (WPS54GU2.
In Wine X.
I use fedora core 1 but whatever you want goto System Settings >>Printing
Delete all the printers that are useless there.
Goto New.
name your printer
under queue type select Networked Unix (LPD)
For the server type in the IP address of your printserver
Mine set by my router is 192.168.0.4
The Queue relates to the port number, L1 = parrallel cable, L2 = USB on mine. So my que is L2.
Select a compatible driver, I run a HP PSC 2210 but for the printserver I need to select the HP desk Jet 990C which I got from the HP website. Generally whatever the driver you were using in Windows should be fine.
Then ok.
Thus it works with my test page and everything else.
Thank you Pete M
I have a small home lan with three computers connected to a 4 port linksys router. My lan consitss of three computers Win Me, Win Xp and the third running various Linux distros. The forth port is connected to a Linksys 1 Port Print Server Model PPSX1. Until now I was able to print to my lan printer with the windows computers but not with linux. After reading this thread I tried if again with your infomation " lpd:/192.168.1.103/L1 "and to my amazement IT WORKED I did this in Fedora Core using KDE print manager. Thanks again

Thanks all - this solved my problem printing to Deskjet 930c, via Linksys WPS11.
From menu bar:
1.System>Printing
2.Select "New Printer" .....wait for the database to load
3.Select "Network Printer", and "UNIX Printer(LPD)" from drop down list
4.Type the IP address of your print server in "Host" box
5.Enter "L1" in "Queue" box (for Serial -from reading above L2 for USB)
6.Click "forward"
7.Select Manufacture and driver for your printer.
8.Click "forward"
9.Enter description and Location (optional)
10.Click "Apply"
.....and Robert's your father's brother - one working printer!
