Question L 01

Ok, i Have had RH9 installed for about a week, and i got it all set up, and my modem wasnt compatable with RH9, but worked on windows...

so i formatted my hard disk with FDISK, (removed all linux partitions) and made a partition the size of my whole hard disk and set it to active.

reformatted it like FDISK said to and i install Win2kpro sp1, it all goes perfect, until i reboot from the installer... i get a blank screen, then i get "L 01" about 100000 times...

i have looked up on google about this, and i cant find anything to help... is there anyway to get the "L 01"'s to dissapear and win 2k pro sp1 to boot?

Please help

I get the same error (that is to say, L 01 01 01 01 01 01 01...). This happens because Lilo tries to run, and it can't cause you haven't linux installed!! I don't know why, but Lilo is still loading at the beggining of your PC. So you must run ONCE AGAIN fdisk /mbr.
Hope it works! (if not please tell it)

P.D. (editting): I'll describe all the steps for uninstalling Lilo:
1. Change your BIOS parametres for booting with CD.
2. Insert Windows 98 or XP CD.
3. on command line, type "fdisk /mbr" (without the " symbol). This deletes the table of partitions.
4. Reboot! This should work.

Sorry for my bad English!

I'm Spanish, and I don't speak English....
Did you try to do that?? Hope it worked!
Bye! BTW, I don't know if I can send private messages and, if that's possible, how to do it... :-)

I get the same error when I remove one of my harddrives. I don't understand why, because LILO and the kernel are on another disc, and it doesn't have to boot anything off the one I'm trying to remove. Need some help please.

I reccomend installing Linux again.

[Note about Bosnja's English] You're english is close to perfect to me. Maybe it is because my love is from Russia and she has bad grammar(which I think is cute) but yours is fine.

Not an option for me. There has to be a way of fixing it without wasting time by reinstalling all my packages.

basically, what you need to do is download the windows ME bootdisk from www.bootdisk.com , then install the program onto a floppy, then you have a bootup disk. put the floppy in, restart and load windows with CD support, then type "fdisk /mbr"with no qoutations, then put your windows CD in, then go to your CD drive e.g e:/ then type setup, then just follow the windows installation
