Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Kubuntu 9.04, USB-headphones don't work?

I did a clean install of Kubuntu 9.04, which comes with alsa base installed. My headphones, which do work on my Windows install, don't work. Alsamixer sees a heaphones entry, but I'm not sure if it is the USB ones.

I tried uninstalling all non-required alsa packages by Kubuntu and tried to reinstall all of them, even the ones that had to stay. I configured them as I was supposed to, and they still don't work.

lsusb shows that the headphones are connected as "CMedia USB audio adaptor".

Help?

Also I'm a Linux Newbie.

Maybe you need drivers...
Isn't there a way to connect them with a normal audio jack?
