i tried following things..

1. checked n changed keybord layout
2. changed keyboard (acer n logitech)
3. reinstalled OS
4. tried in gnome, KDe, Failsafe, fwmn etc..
previous OS on the same machine was WinXP & suse 10.1, and same keyboard was working properly..

Sounds like a defective keyboard, and not a Linux issue. Do you have a spare keyboard you can try?

He said he changed keyboard. If it works OK with some LiveCD, I would bet it is an X setting about repeat rate (by the way, does it work in console?). But I don't know where to configure it.

it is working in console...

n i already stoped its repeat rate... tht way it works..
but if i want to press more than 1 characters like "-----------"
i need to hit keybord as many times as i want the character... it does not repeat it at all...

i think open suse 10.2 is not supporting h/w (motherboard or graphics card)... because aftr stoping repeat rate permanantly
my probleb was solved but now keybord is getting hanged aftr 10-15 min...n i need to restart the machine..

i did reinstallation but tht too did nt solve my problem..
i hv 2 machines wid same configuration...
they both hv same prob..

thre must b some prob in GUI environment..
because prob is same in gnome also..

What I can tell is that
Code:
xset r rate 300 20
should give you repeat delay 300 ms for one session. 20 is repeat rate after the delay, increase for faster repeat. It is written on http://www.math.ucla.edu/computing/d...-man-1799.html that :
Quote:
Option "AutoRepeat" "delay rate"
sets the auto repeat behaviour for the keyboard. This is not implemented on all platforms. delay is the time in milliseconds before a key starts repeating. rate is the number of times a key repeats per second. Default: "500 30".
