jack audio silly

Dears, some days ago I tried to use two different speakers connected through 1 jack ending in two female jacks. It worked properly but I decided to go back to the 1 speaker only. Since then, every time that I switch on the pc the speaker doesn't work. I have to unjack it and connect it again. Then it works. I use Linux 21.1. From terminal I learn that audio device is: Intel 100 Series/C230 Series Chipset Family HD Audio Controller. How can I get audio working "normally"? Thank you for advice

Linux is the kernel, not the distro Could you clarify which distro you are using?

In the interest of thoroughness, have you tested with a different known-good speaker(s) with a known-good jack.

It's a long-shot, but you might try blowing out the audio jack with compressed air in case some dust or other foreign matter has made its way into it.

Thank you for your answer. Yes I forgot to say that Linux in use is: Linux Mint 21.1 Vera.- For what concern testing I would like to complete informations by saying that I have been using the same speakers for years without any problem. Problems came out since I had the (silly) idea of connecting the new jack ending in two different female jacks, as stated in the forst post
