Lightbulb Is there a utility or method for seeing occupied/available pci-e lanes?

Do I understand correctly that each device/controller occupies a certain number of lanes and these things can't be configured? Like a 1x pci-e slot will use 1 lane, the 6 port sata controller will use 1 or 2 lanes, the x16 slot will use 16 lanes etc ...

google is your friend. For example: https://serverfault.com/questions/39...lanes-in-linux
https://superuser.com/questions/1495...m-has-and-uses
(and you can find a lot of other pages)
