Is Tecra A8 supported Ubuntu 7.10

Hi,

Recently I have a laptop of Tecra A8 model with Win Vista Business OS installed. And, I intend to install another OS which is Ubuntu 7.10.

I tried before to install but it seems it keep on loading Ubuntu rather than having automatic loader to choose Windows Vista Business OS.

Can anyone advise me on how to settle the problem i faced?

Did anyone install before UBuntu7.10 on Tecra A8?

Please advise. Thanks.

Hi fellow Tecra user

I own a Toshiba Tecra A8-103 with Debian installed on in. Everything works just fine. I can't confirm anything about Ubuntu.

here some info from www.linux-on-laptops.com/ Linux support on Tecra A8 laptops

do you aim for a dual boot? ( where you can have both Vista and Linux installed on your laptop?. Have you successfully installed Ubantu? if yes
does your boot loader prompt both OS at start ?

hey its me again

from your double posting on this site

Quote:
i) I am not sure whether do the above model supports Linux/Ubuntu in terms of compatibility. So far, I googled and knew that it has problem with audio.
well its not really a compatibility issue just a minor tweak is needed. here is the solution

ii)Second, I tried to install before Ubuntu 7.10 as another OS in the laptop.
However, it keep on rebooting to Ubuntu rather than a selection of multi Os.
Can anyone suggest me right way or steps to perform the installation?

not a top class answer but plenty of resources on the subject, like here
or ask directly to the Ubantu forum on linuxquestions

Given I have only one partition, shall I separate the partition in Vista prior installing UBuntu? Or shall I install Ubuntu and choose Manual Option only to resize them?

You need for each operating system one partition each. Linux moreover expects a second partition named swap partition. Obviously Ubantu installation process take cares all these modifications

Please help.Thanks.
