I have a Intel G33 chipset HP Pavilion desktop and I need to install Fedora core 7 for making certain software work. I am having problem with configuring X3100 integrated graphics driver for fedora core 7. It can not load the driver for X3100 and loads vesa driver. I have downloaded the drivers from "http://intellinuxgraphics.org/", have compiled it and installed it, but whenever I specify the driver as "intel" in the device section and start the X server, the display goes blank and the system hangs. I have tried both "i810" and "intel" as the Xorg driver module but it does not help. After a power cycle, Xorg log shows that "No device found" error. The same driver gets loaded properly if I install Fedora core 8 in the system. Do I need to update Fedora core 7 kernel to make this work? Can anybody point out what might be the problem here?

You need to install the Intel Media Graphics Accelerator. This is in the repositories (ATrpms, to my understanding) and it might change Xorg for you. If it doesn't, change it to 'intel' reboot and it should work.

I actually got it running after updating the kernel. It seems the kernel that shipped with fedora core 7 was having some problem with the intel driver.
