Smile I am not able to hear sound on my pc...

Okay here's my system specs:
Intel dual core 2.4ghz
Intel 945 mother board
LG dvd combo drive
17" samsung crt monitor
1gb 667mhz memory
160gb hdd
I recently downloaded linux distro opensuse 10.3 i386. I read all the tutorials for installation and followed the same procedure. But after installation i am not able to hear the sound. My motherboard manual says that i have realtek HD audio onboard. I also checked opensuse manual. It says it supports realtek audio.
Can someone help me to solve this hardware issue.
Thanks in advance

First thing to try is open a console and run "alsamixer". Check if the audio levels are set to zero and muted (which is the default).

Actually, it would be better to run 'alsaconf', then 'alsamixer', then 'alsactl store'.
