Question How to mount a hardrive over a network?

yeah, i was wondering if there is any way to mount a HD over a private network? cuz i suddenly ran out of space on my server and have a standalone machine which i am allowed to use one of the harddrives. So is it possible? if so, how? Thank you very much.

(i am not allowed to make the holw hardrive shared tho...)

Samba

Samba is your friend here,

just create a samba (or windows) share on the remote computer,
you can then mount this with something like:

mount -t smbfs -o username=mySambaOrWindowsUserName
//IPadressOrHostnameOfRemoteServer/shareName
/path/to/dir/to/mount/the/share

The last few lines are actually one line...
