how to install 2 same pci devices in 1 linux system?

Currently, I am installing 2 ieee1394 pci boards in my linux system. I am using PC/104, not normal PC, and the 1394 boards are also in the PC/104 form. My problem is my system can not detect the 2nd board. No message about the 2nd board in /proc/pci and dmesg. The device ID of the 2 boards are different, so they are not using the same PCI slot. Does anyone know why? and could anyone tell me how to manually make Linux rescan all PCI devices if it is possible?

Any help or suggestions will be very appreciated!

Best regards,
maximurs

See if you have kudzu installed and do a hardware probe.
also post the output of lspci with both boards seated properly.

It's possible that one of the boards is non-functional, and it's also possible that one of the PCI slots is non-functional. Are you sure that both cards and both slots do in fact work as expected? You may have already done that but if not, you wouldn't want to waste hours and hours of time only to discover that it was a hardware problem all along. -- J.W.

The problem has been solved now. The reason was the weak physical connection. Thanks anyway.
