Unhappy help, lost data after install new HD


i installed a new HD in my machine. i did some stupid. after partition and mke2fs, i mounted new partition to /home, which already exists in the old HD. i lost all data (home dir for all users).

can i get those data back? if can, what i can do to rescue?

Oops!

Try taking a look at http://recover.sourceforge.net/linux/recover/ for a Linux utility to recover files.

If you don't want to install to the drive which has lost the data and you have access to a machine running Windoze you could add your HDD as an additional drive and use http://www.r-tt.com/RLinux.shtml
