Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Lexmark Z65 CUPS driver

All I want is maybe a little direction, guidance, someone to point me in the right direction.

I am running Fedora Core 4 with all current updates through RedHat Network. All my peripherals, including USB devices (cameras, etc.), work, except for the Lexmark Z65 printer.

Lexmark provides a tarred driver for their (my) Z65 printer and I installed it (CJLZ65LE-CUPS-1.0-1.TAR.GZ) successfully. However, I still cannot get it to print anything. I added the printer via the localhost:631 administration server, the printer is visible, and state is "idle, accepting jobs". When I try to print, the printer state is "aborted".

Where can I go from here? I'm no Linux expert, but I thought I would be able to figure this out eventually on my own. No luck in the two weeks that I've been up and running.

I got it working, but I'm not sure why. The only thing I changed was that I loaded the localhost:631 Web server page, went to my default printer, then clicked "Configure Printer". Under the "Others" section, I selected "Color" for the Output Mode, instead of Grayscale. I had originally selected Grayscale because my color cartridge was out of ink. However, all black ink parts of the test page printed great!
I hope this helps anyone else who may have a similar issue.
