hard disk tremendously slow
Hi,
I've been running Suse 9.1 with success now for half a year, but since a week it's suddenly gone tremendously slow.
I think it's a hard disk problem, but I don't know where to attack... When I use the seagate disc check tools, it gives no problem.
However, when I do a reiserfsck, it goes terribly slow. I've had it running for 24 h., and it looked like it wasn't even at 10%. It doesn't complain, but simply goes VERY slow..
When I run hdparm -tT /dev/hda it returns values for buffer-cache reads, but no values for buffered-dic reads (it stops). When I run hdparm -i /dev/hda it returns the configuration inmediately.
A week ago, when I started up in failsave mode I could still get in, but now it get's stuck at "checking transaction log (hda2)"
Anybody any clue on what's going on? Is it still possible to get it back on it's feet?
Cheers, Bo
