Fresh install, i5-11600K, scaled video

I just installed Debian 11 onto some new hardware (i5-11600K, UHD Graphics 750) and video isn't working properly.

Code:
mkd@thing:~$ xrandr
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
   1024x768 76.00*
Code:
mkd@thing:~$ sudo lshw -c video
  *-display UNCLAIMED
       description: VGA compatible controller
       product: Intel Corporation
       vendor: Intel Corporation
       physical id: 2
       bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0
       version: 04
       width: 64 bits
       clock: 33MHz
       capabilities: pciexpress msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list
       configuration: latency=0
       resources: memory:59000000-59ffffff memory:40000000-4fffffff ioport:3000(size=64) memory:c0000-dffff
Notice the line "*-display UNCLAIMED"

Code:
mkd@thing:~$ lspci -k
[...]
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 4c8a (rev 04)
	DeviceName: Onboard - Video
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device d000
	Kernel modules: i915
[...]
This is the only entry mentioning "VGA" or "video".

Note that the motherboard is strange in that it does not have HDMI or DisplayPort outputs, only two Thunderbolt 4 ports. (Motherboard: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard...D-rev-10/sp#sp) The specs for the motherboard state that the Thunderbolt ports "[support] DisplayPort and Thunderbolt™ video outputs". I'm using it with a Thunderbolt->HDMI adapter.

Any help much appreciated!

xrandr --listproviders should show a list of available graphics outputs if the i915 kernel module is loaded.

I'd return it to vendor and get a motherboard with real DisplayPort and HDMI outputs. Just don't buy an Asus B560M-A, which has 1 DP and 2 HDMI outputs. I bought one last month with an i5-11400. It won't boot with more than one connected display. It works fine when additional display(s) is/are connected after booting. Asus response is virtually non, asking for more information multiple times when I gave them all they need on the first contact.

It escapes me ATM what I had to do with Bullseye to get proper video output with the i5-11400's 730 graphics, but it is working with my 2560x1440 and 2560x1080 and 1920x1200 displays as long as I connect no more than one for booting. When I remember I'll return....

I'm back. I installed the bpo kernel 5.14.

Dang, 'xrandr --listproviders' returns 'Providers: Number : 0'

I guess I will return this mobo.. second one, too. The first was an Asrock that was DOA :\

I don't think a default Debian 11 installation supports the 11th gen CPUs, which is why I installed the bpo kernel. Likely that's all you need to do if you have the correct video cable adapters.
Code:

That did the trick, thank you!

For future searchers I used this guide: https://www.linuxcapable.com/how-to-...n-11-bullseye/
