force firewire ipod as scsi device sda2

Hi,

I have a USB2 removable hardrive and a firewire iPod hooked up to my Linux box.

I am using Slackware (current) and I'm having an annoying problem.

I am trying to write scripts to mount and unmount my iPod but the iPod and USB2 hardrive keep switching scsi device assignments.

On one boot the USB2 drive shows up as /dev/sda1 and the iPod as /dev/sdb2 but on another boot they will switch.

My question is how can I force them to always keep the same scsi device assignment?!

Please help me.

Thanks!
