Fedora Core 2 and Siemens c35

Hi,
I am using fedora core 2 kernel 2.6.5.I going to connect to my handphone(which is now I use siemens c35).I connect to the handphone via data cable and usb-serial adapter(prolific). Its seems like my linux unable to detect the mobile device.I used smstools to try to connect.I am connect from /dev/ttyUSB0.

Any suggestion the way I could connect to my handphone??.Or is there a way to initialize my handphone to the system?
This data cable and usb-serial adapter are working properly in windows.

Regards,
Sam
