Question DRI not running on 2.6.5-rc1-mm1

Hello all;

I got a problem with DRI. I compiled agpgart and dri for my card into kernel modules.
I don't have DRI, glxinfo shows no direct rendering.

My modules section from XF86Config-4 :

Load "record"
Load "extmod"
Load "dbe"
Load "dri"
Load "glx"
Load "xtrap"
Load "type1"
Load "speedo"
EndSection

And glxinfo :

name of display: :0.0
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
display: :0 screen: 0

I have a Dell 500m. A intel 855GM chipset, intel agp. So I compiled as modules :
agpgart
intel-agp
i830 (which is the i855 dri driver...)

I modprobe these (rc.local) before gdm starts...
I am using arch linux.

Something I should do?

thx geert.

I am betting you didn't set up the video card correctly in the XF86Config. Make sure you are calling the driver for it in the videocard section. I am guessing this because this is your only error. If you were loading the driver it would give you another error if dri messed up. I suggest you run xf86config. that is a program that will allow you to configure XF86Config through a series of questions. After this you will need to go back in and set up the loads at the top like you have them now.

You may get a better idea what's going wrong by examining /var/log/XFree86.0.log. One possibility is failure of the allocation request to agpgart, and that might be fixable by adding or changing the VideoRam statement in the Device section of XF86Config-4. I have "VideoRam 16384" on my system. I had to experiment to get it to work.

Yep it is the VideoRam setting that was too low...

I got DRI now. Thanx for helping me.

Geert.
