To open your CD-rom you have to un-mount it !
umount /dev/cdrom

Once the CD is in, then you have to mount it

Cool trick:
to close the cdrom by itself use:
eject -t cdrom

once the cd is mounted, use the cd command to move to the cdrom (cd /mnt/cdrom). I can't remember the exact path to the directory, bu I think it's something like Rehat/RPMS.

Once you locate the RPMS directory use the ls command to get a list of what is on that cd (some programs are on other cdroms). If you see the one you want, copy it to your hard-drive using:

cp programname.rpm /home/username/programname.rpm
or wherever you want to put it.

Next login as root and move to the directory where you put the rpm. Now if you don't have an older version of the rpm installed use:
rpm -ivh programname.rpm

If you already have an older version of it, use the upgrade option:
rpm -Uvh programname.rpm

If you run the rpm command and it says a bunch of thing about dependencies, that means you'll have to find those rpms too and copy them over and install them first.
