"C-Media Sound card problem in RedHat 9 with 2.4.20-8 kernel"


dear members,
I installed RedHat Linux 9 with kernel 2.4.20-8

my sound card C-Media Electronics Inc's CM8738 which is a inbuilt card along with HSP56 Micro Modem.

when i ran the sound card detection program it found my soundcard as

Vendor : C-Media Electronics Inc
Model : CM8738
Module : cmpci

when i clicked play sound it produces a berrrrrrrr sound and my system hangs i have to manualy restart my system. when reboot my system i went to the BIOS and disabaled the integrated modem. after that when i ran the test it found my card and when i click play sound there was no sound. please help me
